OMG
so.. I'm posting here because I think my Facebook crowd would freak (too many family and work peoples)

7 Hours ago I burned my arm on a charcoal chimney that was still glowing red hot. I went to the ER, the diagnosis was 2nd degree burn, maybe 3rd. I had a 2 1/2 by 1 inch blister with a 3 inch by 2 inch red zone around it... something deep inside my mind said that I should take a picture.. I did not.

At 1am I grew bored of WoW and decided to take a look at my burn.

It's faded away... barely a sunburn. Thank you to what ever god or goddess that is watching out for me. Someone out there is throwing out healing and it found me this night.

Thank you.

Had to do this

Your result for The Ultimate TRUE IRISH Test...

Finn MacCool

You scored 91 Common Sense, 65 Irish Facts, and 87 Irish Soul!

I am honored to be in your presence. You know your stuff. You are Irish in your heart. You probably talk like an Irish person after a few pints. You sing the rebel songs. You drink, and probably bleed Guinness. You may have even been interned in British Prisions. You impress (or annoy) all your friends with your vast Irish knowledge. If you are a female, I am in love. If you are a male, we are brothers. We should have a pint.

Please don't forget to rate my test...

OMG

i finally went and picked up my guitar.  It's a 1995 410E Taylor Acoustic and kicks ASS!  I'm hoping to bring by soulfood tomorrow and have Clint become my guitar jedi master.

HUGE bonus, it came with the orginal case!! :)  So I've a perfect fit for my new tar.

She/He has already tought me a song.  Now i needz lyrics.  The problem with being a sell-out is that you don't have alot to write songs about.  Suburan Redmond Microsofty life dooesn't provide much for Am->Am 2 frets up?->Dm->G.  I'll have to channel old acting empaty to write something interesting.

I have no more words other than....

HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY JOY!

What a weekend!

OMG

Ok, last weekend was awesome.

Friday was the TWIRL show at soulfood, but Grace was at rehearsal so Clint brought up a number of guest artists.  We had everything from a 70 codger singing and playing harmonica to the 7yo playing lead guiltar on Freebird.  Sadly, Sean got upset and we had to leave before Sara made her cello debut. :(  A GREAT packed night at soulfood books.  The light and love Clint and crew brings to the space is amazing.  It's what brings me back every day.

Saturday was all day Democratic caucus, again I'm forced to stare blankly into the face of the utter disorganization of the democratic party.  It took 8 hours to count the people who showed up, sit alternates, and then vote for delgates to the state convention.  The best part though is that it was at the high school where a bunch of my seattle gamer friends went.  I was running a bit tight on time and parking was a nightmare so I double parked... very very bad.. I blocked in a first responder and got the "would the owner of the blah blah blah" please move their car.  Not good.  I drove the car over to my friend's parent's place, where we've gamed for like 4 years and hitched a ride back with his dad.  All was good.  I stayed to the bitter end and got to meet some amazing supporters who I dutifily voted on to the next level.

Now there is a huge upside to staying so late.  I played alot of OUENDAN, which is always a good day.  But I also started surfing and found out that  (drum roll)

[info]s00j and [info]omnisti had flown in for the weekend!!  Tricky Pixie would be doing a surprise show at Soulfood on Sunday!  YAY!! \o/!!

Beth and I, with kids in tow, got there about an hour early to ensure seats where we could make a quick escape if Sean had troubles.  With less then 24 hours notice they had packed Soulfood, packed!  As always, the show rocked!   Sean had some trouble with the clapping & screaming at the end of each song.  Beth, being the super mom that she is took him to the back and let Kalie and I sit in our seats to watch the show.

At show end Kailie was a puddle and it was time to say goodbye to the band members until s00j can come back this summer.  We'll have to see if Alec or  [info]stealthcello are doing anything local between here and there.

Good company, helpful friends, family fun and awesome music x2.  What more could you ask for in a weekend!

.. oh yeah... and I'm done playing only fake guitar games.  It's time to pony up and play the real thing.

Thank you for helping to create and build the RPG genera that at one time filled just my free time and then lead to a career.  As my friend Jason Carl said:

"(I)
was always impressed by his sincere love for his games, his affection for the game hobby and its participants, and his deep-seated belief that any day in which you could exercise a little imagination was a day that was not wasted."

Thank you Gary.  May we all ensure we waste no days...

May you roll many 20's and no 1's.

Krishnamurti between chants

OMG

While watching [info]kellianna5
's show at Soulfood last night (ok listening to her show) I picked up a book detailing a dialog between Krishnamurti and a collection of Buddhist scholars. Between chasing Kailie down, rocking Sean to sleep and joining in on the chants I waded my way through a good portion of the first conversation.

The most intersting point so far? There is no ideal, ideals are false, and non-fact.  There can only be fact and you shouldn’t run from them.

It’s hard to see this without the quote/exchange.

From “Can Humans Change?” - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1590300726 (or go order it ats teh soulfoodz)

K: “My point is that there is no duality even in daily life. It is the invention of all the philosophers, intellectuals, utopians, idealists who say there is the opposite, work for that. The fact is I am violent, that is all, let me deal with that. And to deal with it, don’t invent nonviolence.”

IS: “The question now is: How am I going to deal with It, having accepted the fact that I am violent?

K: “Not accepted, it’s a fact.”

IS: “Having seen it.”

K: “Then we can proceed, I’ll show you. But first I must see what I am doing now. I am avoiding the fact and running away to non-fact. That is what is happening all over the world. So don’t run, but remain with the fact. Can you do it?”

IS: “Well, the question is, can one do it? One can, but one often does not like doing it.”

K: “Of course you can do it. It’s like seeing something dangerous and saying, “It’s dangerous, so I won’t go near it.” Running away from the fact is dangerous. So that’s finished, you don’t run away. That doesn’t mean you train, that you practice not to run, you don’t run. I think the gurus, the philosophers, have invented the running. Sorry.”

When I dwell on what I’ve read so far I’m led to a number of conclusions that fit well in my own conditioning…

Fear, hope, rejection, hate are all emotions tied into the lack of acknowledgement of fact. There are better creatives out there, I must accept this. There are an innumerable number of them. I love their work, but can only create experiences that achieve the height I desire in concert with others, a magnifying glass as it were. Without their spark I’m quite useless.

Look at yourself, see who you are in terms of facts and not false ideals that lead you to fear, hope and inevitable rejection.

Thankfully I find that my facts include a love of music, family, joy, art, narrative … … …
